Second week in PDX

So far, so good. Granted, there is not much to do at work since most people are OOO. There's tons I can be reading and trying to pick up on, but I learn more easily when I have a task I can apply the reading toward. Based on who I've met so far, and the general vibe of the workplace though, I'm liking the new job. It feels like people are actually accomplishing things here.

Portland is treating me well so far. The lack of crowds, the slower pace, and the abundance of delicious food is all very pleasing. However, note to self, excluding the super awesome Tres Leches dessert cup from Whole Foods-Austin (never seen it elsewhere), their other pre-made desserts are terrible and over priced.

In better dessert updates, Saint Honore' bakery is so delicious. I will be spending a small fortune trying everything on the pastry/bread menu for sure. I had the Mirliton de Rouen this past weekend, and I have never had anything similar in my life. It was heavenly.

  1. Huh. I visited Rouen for something like a week and don't remember that dessert.
